Week 19: The Busy Trap.

This article has been referred to me by almost ten people in the past two weeks, and when I finally took a moment from my oh-so-extremely-busy-and-fast-paced-life for five minutes to read it, I understood why. Appropriately titled “The Busy Trap”, author Tim Kreider wrote this opinion piece to call our North American culture out for being the cause of its own collective exhaustion and focus on work.
It’s not as if any of us wants to live like this; it’s something we collectively force one another to do.
I suggest taking a minute or two out of your busy day to read the article (I don’t doubt your day was full to the brim with appointments and to-do lists), but then please, take another second to reflect. Are you creating your own busyness? Why? What is the impact it has had on your life? Do you enjoy being busy? Again… why?
Self-reflection is a totally necessary part of life to ensure that you’re feeling in control, powerful, and fulfilled. Do yourself a favour and break free from the busy trap - or, at least take minute to recognize that maybe, for the sake of nothing but to enjoy a happy moment of your life, next time you should say yes to that drink.
See you next week.
